UNIVERSITY OF ILUNOIS ACCEPTANCE OF INCOME SCRIP O F BRITISH COLUMBIA PULP A N D PAPER COMPANY BONDS

(1) The British Columbia Pulp and Paper Company proposes to issue income scrip for the years 1933 and 1934 for interest on its first mortgage 6% Sinking Fund bonds, due November 1, 1950, of which the University has $2,000 received as a gift in connection with the I. O. Baker Prize Fund endowment. Owners of bonds are asked to submit the bonds to the Montreal Trust Company for the purpose of making the necessary changes in coupons. The Committee recommends that these bonds be withdrawn for that purpose, the bonds to be returned to our depository after this change has been effected. On motion of Mr. Barr, this recommendation was approved.

BONDS O F STAFF OF PURCHASING AGENT'S OFFICE

(2) The University auditors, Arthur Andersen & Co., have called attention to the fact that responsible members of the staff of the Purchasing Agent's office should be under bond. The Committee recommends that surety bonds be provided for certain members of the staff as follows: Purchasing Agent $10 000 Assistant Purchasing Agent 5 000 Chief Traffic Clerk 5 000 On motion of Mr. Trees, this recommendation was approved.

SALE OF U. S. TREASURY BONDS

(3) A recommendation that $16,700 par value of U. S. Treasury 3^4% bonds, due 1946-56, held as investments of endowment funds, be sold at the market. On motion of Mr. Armstrong, this recommendation was approved.

COMMITTEE ON LANDSCAPING THE PRESIDENT'S HOUSE

On motion of Mr. Trees, the special committee on Landscaping the President's House was discharged, their duties having been completed.

COMMITTEE ON MEN'S DORMITORIES

The special committee on dormitories for men was discharged.

MARKERS TO ENTRANCES TO C A M P U S

Mr. Armstrong, for the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, presented a recommendation that the proper authorities of the University be instructed to erect suitable signs at the street entrances to the campus of the University. On motion of Mr. Williams, this recommendation was adopted.

ACTING PRESIDENT DANIELS IN OFFICE

President Chase announced that he was giving over his official duties at the conclusion of the present meeting of the Board. Acting President Daniels was accordingly vested with the duties of the office as of July 11, 1933.
