1933] UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS 367 DIRECTORS OF UNIVERSITY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (32) A recommendation that the following be appointed as Directors of the University of Illinois Athletic Association to serve until March, 1934, or until their successors shall have been elected: Director George Huff, Champaign; Professor F . A. Russell, U r b a n a ; Professor A. C. Callen, U r b a n a ; Mr. J. P. Kratz, Monticello; and Senator W . E. C. Clifford, Champaign. T h e constitution of the Athletic Association provides that its directors shall be elected annually by the Board of Trustees of the University on recommendation of the President of the University. On motion of Mr. Barr, these Directors were appointed. STUDY OF TUITION FEES A N D SCHOLARSHIPS (33) A recommendation that the Board appoint a special committee to undertake a systematic study of tuition fees and scholarships at the University. O n m o t i o n of M r . T r e e s , t h e P r e s i d e n t of t h e B o a r d w a s r e q u e s t e d to a p p o i n t a s p e c i a l c o m m i t t e e of t h r e e m e m b e r s of t h e B o a r d ( i n cluding himself) to investigate this matter and report to the Board. REPORT OF PURCHASES (34) T h e following report of purchases authorized by the President since the last report: F r o m the Sullivan Chevrolet Company, three 1933 Standard Chevrolet coaches and six 1933 Standard Chevrolet coupes, to replace four-cylinder Ford cars of similar types which have been in service one year, at a cost of $1410.00. From George B. Limbert and Company, 23,240 ft. l%" black steel pipe, miscellaneous fittings for heating systems in Horticultural Green Houses, at a cost of $1,755.09. F r o m the Grasselli Chemical Company, one carload of chemically pure and commercial acids, for the Chemical Stores, at a price of $1,452.00 f.o.b. Urbana, including return transportation charges on empty containers amounting to about $150. This was the lowest quotation of four submitted by various manufacturers. This report was received for record. GIFTS TO THE UNIVERSITY (35) T h e following reports of gifts received by the University since the last report: From Mr. Charles M. Woodbury and Misses Flora, Lucy, and Mary Woodbury, Danville, Illinois, 362 bound volumes, 15 unbound volumes, and 68 pamphlets, to the University Library. From the United States Gypsum Company, $1,000 for the continuation of the cooperative investigation of the sound absorption of materials for one year from October 1, 1933. From Mrs. Walter J. Sweet, 603 South Lincoln, Urbana, 241 bound volumes, 4 unbound books, and 2 pamphlets, from the library of the late Dean Kendric C. Babcock, to the University Library. From the National Research Council, to Professor J. T. Buchholz, of the Department of Botany, $885 for the period of July 1, 1933, to June 30, 1934, in support of his research work. F r o m the Bureau of Research of the American Otological Society, to P r o fessor E. A. Culler, of the Department of Psychology, $3,150 for the period of September 1, 1933, to September I, 1934, in support of his research work. This report was received for record. PURCHASE OF TREASURY BONDS (36) A report from the Comptroller that pursuant to the action of the Board of Trustees on June 16, 1933, he has purchased $500 United States Treasury Bonds 3$i% due 1946/56 @ 104 28/32, as investment for trust funds. T h i s r e p o r t w a s received for record.
