viously proposed by the City for the construction of the Lincoln Avenue Storm Sewer, not only as an improvement which will be of benefit to University and city property but as a project which will furnish needed employment to Urbana and Champaign labor during the fall and winter of 1932-33.

On motion of Mr. Barr, the Board voted to accept an assessment for this project not to exceed a total of $30,000, to be paid in three equal instalments on January 1, 1934, 1935, and 1936, or sooner if the finances of the University permit, without interest on deferred payments.

LEGISLATIVE B U D G E T FOR 1 9 3 3 - 3 5 (2) The State law requires that tentative budgets shall be submitted by all State departments and agencies, including the University of Illinois, by the first of November preceding a legislative session. It is the custom to regard such estimates, so far as the University is concerned, as tentative subject to modification when its bills are introduced in the General Assembly. I recommend that the following be adopted as a tentative legislative budget for 1933-35 to be submitted to the State Department of Finance as required by law; and that this budget or any modification thereof which may hereinafter be adopted by the Board be introduced in the Legislature.

SOURCES OF REVENUE FOR ABOVE APPROPRIATIONS

On motion of Mr. Trees, this recommendation was approved and the President of the University was authorized to submit this budget to the Department of Finance as a tentative budget in compliance with the law.

DATE OF NOVEMBER MEETING

On motion of Dr. Noble, it was voted to hold the November meeting at the University, in Urbana, at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 19. 1932.

APPOINTMENTS MADE BY THE PRESIDENT

The Secretary presented for record a list of appointments made by the President of the University.

Bumbalek, John L., Research Assistant in Olericulture, in the Agricultural Experiment Station, beginning October I, 1932, and continuing until further notice, at a cash compensation at the rate of two hundred dollars ($200) a month. (October I, 1932) 1 Carelli, Paul V., Assistant in Internal Medicine, in the College of Medicine, for eleven months beginning October 1, 1932, without salary. (October 7, 1932)
