1932] UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS 141 OWNERSHIP OF LAND ON PENNSYLVANIA ( M A P L E ) AVENUE (17) A report that the Chicago Title and T r u s t Company, after investigation, has reported that the claim of the University to the ownership of the land on Pennsylvania (or Maple) Avenue, west of Lincoln Avenue, including a strip of land in the Gallivan addition, is well founded. The President of the University was asked to make a recommendation covering the steps the University should take to conserve its rights in this matter. The Executive Committee adjourned. H. E. BARRETT Clerk Chairman SECOND SESSION O F T H E BOARD When the Board convened after the recess on October 21, 1932, the following members were present: President Barrett, Mr. Barr, Mrs. Hopkins, Dr. Noble, Mr. Trees, Mr. Williams. President Chase was present; also Professor Morey. INVESTMENT OF TRUST FUNDS Mr. Trees, for the Finance Committee, reported that $4500 of trust funds have been invested in Cudahy Packing Company five per cent bonds of 1946. This report was received for record. NALLY MORTGAGE Mr. Trees, for the Finance Committee, reported also a recommendation that the Comptroller be authorized to proceed with respect to the Nally mortgage according to Mr. Morey's recommendation of October 6, to President Chase. On motion of Mrs. Hopkins, this recommendation was approved. HART MORTGAGE Mr. Trees, for the Finance Committee, recommended that the matter of the Hart mortgage be referred to President Chase, Mr. Morey, and Mr. Williams, to be handled according to the plan outlined by the Finance Committee at its meeting of October 13, 1932. On motion of Mr. Trees, this recommendation was adopted. EMPLOYMENT O F A R T H U R A N D E R S E N a C O . Mr. Trees, for the Finance Committee, recommended also that Arthur Andersen & Co. be employed as auditors for one year, at an expense not to exceed $3000 for the four audits. On motion of Mr. Trees, this recommendation was adopted. MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT CHASE The Board considered the following matters presented by the President of the University.
