The Board "considered the following matters presented'by the President of the University.

REPORT OF REGISTRATION (1) A preliminary report on the results of the registration of students for the first semester. This report showed a decrease of approximately 12 per cent in enrollment as compared with the first semester of last year. T h i s report w a s received for record. C.P.A. CERTIFICATES (2) A recommendation that the following candidates who are certified by the Board of Examiners in Accountancy as having passed the May, 1932, examination, be awarded C.P.A. certificates, as of July 5, 1932:

APPOINTMENT OF DR. ERNST GELLHORN AS PROFESSOR OF PHYSIOLOGY IN THE COLLEGE OF MEDICINE (3) A report of the appointment of Dr. Ernst Gellhorn, formerly Professor of Physiology at the University of Oregon, as Professor of Physiology in the College of Medicine for one year beginning September 1, 1932, at a salary of $5,000.

On motion of Mr. Trees, this appointment was confirmed.

REPORT ON ACCIDENT O F J . A. MORROW AND S. E. GRIFFITH (4) A report on the automobile accident on August 22, 1932, which resulted in the death of J. A. Morrow, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, and serious injuries to S. E. Griffith, Janitor Foreman: The accident occurred at the intersection of State Routes Nos. 25 and 121 near Tuscola, Illinois, shortly before eleven o'clock in the morning of August 22, 1932. Mr. M o r r o w and Mr. Griffith were on their way to southern Illinois to purchase coal for the Power Plant. They were in a Chevrolet Sedan, 1931 model, owned by the University, with Mr. Griffith driving. They were driving south on Highway No. 25, which is a through highway (that is, traffic on east and west roads crossing it is required to stop at intersections), when a car
