CONTRACT WITH HI NNERS ORGAN COMPANY FOR PURCHASE OF ORGAN FOR SCHOOL OF MUSIC

(8) The Comptroller submits the following quotations on a two-manual practice organ for the School of Music. These quotations (except thefirst)are based on uniform specifications:

PROPOSALS ON TWO-MANUAL PRACTICE ORGAN

Wicks Pipe Organ Company, Highland, Illinois Ji 350 oo1 Hinners Organ Company, Pekin, Illinois 1 440 00 The Reuter Organ Company, Lawrence, Kansas 2 049 00 La Marche Brothers, Chicago, Illinois 2 150 00 Lewis & Hitchcock, Washington, D. C 2 450 00 All are net prices and include delivery and installation. Thefigurequoted by the Wicks Pipe Organ Company, while low, is based upon the company's specifications instead of those furnished by the University. The latter call for electropneumatic action, considered by the organ builders to be the most satisfactory, while the Wicks specifications provide for a direct electric action. In view of these facts the Director of the School of Music and the Comptroller recommend that the bid of the Hinners Organ Company, which is the next lowest and which is based exactly on the University's specifications, be accepted. I concur in this recommendation and recommend further that the Comptroller be authorized to conclude a contract with their Hinners Organ C o m p a n y at a price of $1440 delivered •Quotation is based on the specifications instead of on uniform specifications submitted by and installed (except for wiring and sheet metal connection for the blower, estimated University. to cost about $50). Provision for the purchase and installation of this instrument was made in the special appropriation of $3700 to the School of Music for 1930-31. O n m o t i o n of M r s . Grigsby, the purchase of the H i n n e r s o r g a n w a s authorized as r e c o m m e n d e d .
