240 BOARD OF TRUSTEES [June 15 M A T T E R S P R E S E N T E D B Y PRESIDENT C H A S E The Board considered the following matters presented by the President of the University. ILLINOIS HOME BUREAU FEDERATION (1) A request from Mrs. Henry J. Mies, President of the Illinois H o m e Bureau Federation, that a committee of that organization be permitted an interview at this meeting of the Board. This hearing w a s granted. Four ladies representing the Federation appeared a n d m a d e statements concerning the desirability of establishing w o r k in parent training, including a nursery school. DEGREES TO BE CONFERRED IN JUNE (a) The Secretary has the recommendations of the University Senate for degrees to be conferred on June 16, the degrees to be conferred at the end of the Summer Session subject to the completion of certain requirements, and the degrees conferred at the Commencement exercises of the Chicago Departments on June 13. I request authority to confer the degrees in accordance with the recommendations of the University Senate on June 16 and the same authority to confer degrees in accordance with the recommendations of the Senate at the end of the Summer Session when the requirements of the candidates concerned have been met. The Board on M a y 14, authorized the conferring of the degrees at the exercises of the Chicago Departments. O n motion of D r . Noble, the President w a s authorized to confer degrees o n June 16 as r e c o m m e n d e d . O n motion of M r .
