In determining the scholastic average, grades received in military science, physical education, and hygiene will not be considered. The interpretation of this rule is carried out by translation of the literal grade intofiguresas follows: A-5; B-4; C-3; D-2; E-i. The individual grades are multiplied by the respective number of semester hours which each represents and the total of thesefiguresis divided by the total number of semester hours required, less work in military, physical education, and hygiene. 1. Instead of "Biology," "Zoology" shall be required. This requirement must include a course in general zoology and one in vertebrate embryology. Botany is no longer accepted as meeting any part of the prescribed portion of the requirement. This matter has been under consideration by the medical faculty and in conference between Dean Davis and myself for several months and I concur in the above recommendations. On motion of Mr. Williams, these requirements were approved.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO THE COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY

(16) A recommendation from the faculty of the College of Dentistry and the University Senate that, effective September, 1932, the requirements for admission to Dentistry be as follows: Chemistry (including organic chemistry; 4 semester hours) 12 hours Physics fat least 2 hours of laboratory work) 8 hours Biology (at least 4 hours of laboratory work*) 8 hours English 6 hours German, French 6 hours Electives outside of the chemical, physical and biological sciences 6 hours Free electives exclusive of military, hygiene and physical education 14 hours (*ThiB requirement may be satisfied by a course of 8 semester hours in either general biology or zoology, or by courses of 4 semesters each in zoology and botany, but not by botany alone.)
