ADDITION TO BUDGET OF THE SCHOOL. OF MUSIC

(2) A report of the addition of two hundred dollars to the budget of the School of Music for the employment of an additional part-time assistant in Theory and Piano for four months, necessitated by the increased enrollment in that Department. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, the addition of #200 to the budget of the School of M u s i c w a s approved, b y the following vote: A y e , M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r . Barrett, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r s . Hopkins, D r . Noble; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r . E m m e r son, M r . Trees, M r . Williams. A t this point, M r . Barr, being called from the room, asked M r s . E v a n s to take the chair.

APPROPRIATIONS FOR DEATH BENEFITS

(3) A report of the following deaths of members of the staff: Dr. George P. Dreyer, Professor of Physiology in the College of Medicine, on February 27, 1931. H e had been on the staff since September 1, 1900. The amount of death benefit due in his case is $2,750. Rudolph Meseck, Janitor in the School of Pharmacy, on February 21, 1931. H e had been in the employ of the University since January 1, 1902. The death benefit in his case is $360. J. W . Johnson, Laborer in the Physical Plant Division, on March 6, 1931. H e had been in the employ of the University since December 14, 1929. The death benefit in his case is $140.05. I recommend that the sum of $3,250.05 be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for the death benefits due in these cases, and that the Comptroller be authorized to make payments to the designated beneficiaries. APPROPRIATION FOR FLORIDA AVENUE PAVEMENT

(4) When the assessment for the Florida Avenue pavement was approved by the Board on September 17, the estimated expense to the University was given as $22,068.98. The Comptroller reports that a rebate of $1,949.81 has been credited on this assessment, this amount having been repaid to the University in cash. W e have paid only thefirstinstallment of this paving, leaving nine installments unpaid, each in the amount of $2,169.77. The Comptroller and the Supervising Architect recommend that this rebate be applied toward an advance payment of another installment, the difference between the rebate and the amount of the installment to be paid from Physical Plant Extension funds. I recommend that the sum of $1,949.81 be appropriated toward the payment of an additional installment of the assessment for this paving. O n motion of M r . LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR DR. CLARISSA RINAKER

(5) A recommendation that the leave of absence on part-salary given Dr. Clarissa Rinaker, Assistant Professor of English, on account of illness from November 1, 1930, to February 1, 1931, be extended for as much of the second semester as her absence makes necessary, under the same conditions, namely, that the salary of her substitute be deducted from Doctor Rinaker's salary and the balance paid to her. O n motion of D r . Noble, this recommendation w a s adopted.
