A carload of Montrose English finish book paper from the Moser Paper Company of Chicago at a price of $6.50 per cwt., or a total cost of $2300, for the printing of various University publications. The cost of this paper will be charged to the various departments which will use it in their publications. 4. A spectrograph for the Department of Physics from Bausch L o m b Optical Company, the only concern in this country which makes this apparatus, at a cost of $14755. Pyrex laboratory glassware for the General Chemical Storeroom from Schaar and C o m p a n y at a price of $2,443.92. Provision for this purchase is made in the budget of the Chemistry Department. T w o other companies offered the same price, but as it was impracticable to divide the order, it was placed with Schaar and C o m pany in view of the fact that other purchases have been made during the year from the other concerns listed. 6. T w o sets of the new British M u s e u m Catalogue at a total cash price of £640, or about $3200, to be charged to the regular appropriation for "Library Additions." This catalogue will be issued in 160 to 165 folio volumes, the publication to begin in a month or two and to continue for seven or eight years, or until finished. B y purchasing the entire catalogue in advance there will be a saving of $760 on the two sets over the total cost if the volumes are purchased as they are published. 7. Seven paintings from Grand Central Art Galleries, N e w York City, at a total price of $12,000, for the Art Collection. A n appropriation for the purchase of these paintings has been made by the Board of Trustees. T h i s report w a s received for record. GIFTS TO THE UNIVERSITY (13) The following report of gifts received by the University since the last report: 1. From the Certified Milk Producers Association, an additional $1000 for the expenses of the study of the streptococcus epidemicus. 2. From the American Society of Civil Engineers, $2090 as the balance of its contribution towards the expenses of the. cooperative investigation of concrete and reinforced concrete arches for the year 1930; this supplements the gift of $1200 made last M a y to cover the stipend of two special research graduate assistants in 1930-31, making a total contribution from this society in 1930, $3290. Of this total $1500 has been supplied through the Society by the Engineering Foundation. 3. From R o h m & Haas Company, $1000 for the continuation of the fellowship in high pressure gas research for the calendar year 1931. The original gift for this fellowship was accepted by the Board on January 11, 1930. T h i s report w a s received for record. REPORT OF AUDIT OF UNIVERSITY ACCOUNTS (14) The Secretary submits the following report from Arthur Young & Company on their audit of the accounts of the University for the quarter ended December 31, 1930, (this report has already been sent to the Acting Chairman of the Finance Committee): January 14, 1931 Board of Trustees, University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois Dear Sirs, W e have audited the books of the University of Illinois for the quarter ended December 31, 1930, and submit the following brief summary of the work clone and the result of the audit.
