INAUGURATION O F PRESIDENT CHASE O n motion of M r . Trees, an appropriation of #7500, or so much thereof as m a y be necessary, was made from the Reserve and Contingent fund to meet the expenses of the inauguration of President Chase. The vote was as follows: Aye, M r . Barr, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, Mrs. Hopkins, Dr. Noble, Mr. Simpson, Mr.Trees; no, none; absent, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Blair, Mr. Emmerson, Mr. Fisher. BY-LAWS O N COMMITTEES A M E N D E D O n motion of Mr. Trees, the By-Laws of the Board were amended to make Section 6 of Article IV read as printed below. The amendment was adopted by the following vote: Aye, M r . Barr, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, Mrs. Hopkins, Dr. Noble, Mr. Simpson, Mr. Trees; no, none; absent, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Blair, Mr. Emmerson, Mr. Fisher.

ARTICLE IV—COMMITTEES OF THE BOARD

Sec. 6. The following shall constitute the regular or standing committees of the Board and the members thereof shall hold office for one year or until their successors are appointed: Five Board members— Buildings and Grounds Three Board members each— Finance Patents Chicago Departments Students' Welfare Affiliated Student Activities Alumni Agriculture This a m e n d m e n t is effective in M a r c h , 1931. FINANCIAL ORGANIZATION M r . Trees, for the Finance C o m m i t t e e , reported progress o n the consideration of the financial organization of the University. C O N T R A C T WITH U R B A N A LABORATORIES Dr. Noble, for the Committee on Patents, made a report of progress and recommended that the contract with the Urbana Laboratories for the manufacture and sale of the solution known as Hi-Lo-Fosfate be renewed for a period of two years from December 31, 1930, but modified by a provision permitting other educational institutions to manufacture the solution for experimental use. O n motion of Dr. Noble, this recommendation was adopted. MRS. HOPKINS APPOINTED TO COMMITTEES President Barr reported his action appointing Mrs. Hopkins to serve on the standing committees on Chicago Departments and Student Welfare, and on the special committee on the inauguration of President Chase, and as Chairman of the Committee on Landscaping. GOLF C O U R S E Professor White presented a report of progress on the plans for the golf course.
