Sullivan as described above and to instruct the President of the University to notify Mr. Sullivan of this acceptance and express appreciation and thanks of the Board for the same. 2. Dental lecture Courses I have received a request from Dean F. B. Moorehead of the College of Dentistry for permission to have the faculty of the College offer a series of lecture clinics to dental societies and study clubs, the traveling expenses to be met by the local society; and also to offer certain postgraduate courses at the College beginning June 1 and continuing four weeks, fees to be charged as follows: Course in Ceramics—laboratory and clinic—fee $50 Course in Crown and Bridge Prosthesis—laboratory and clinic—fee 50 Course in Denture Prosthesis—laboratory and clinic—fee 50 Course in Histology—-laboratory—fee 50 Course in Operative Dentistry—laboratory and clinic—fee 50 Course in Oral Surgery, including Local Anesthesia, General Principles Laboratory Studies in Mouth Pathology, Clinical Diagnosis, Clinical Practice, and Hospital Clinics—fee 50 Voted to approve the above courses of study and to authorize the charging of fees as indicated above. 3. Erection of Shed, Cook County Experiment Field. O n request of the Comptroller, based on recommendation of Professor J. C. Blair and Dean Mumford, I recommend that a contract be signed with the DesPlaines Lumber and Coal Company, Des Plaines, Illinois, to erect and paint a shed which is to be 24 feet wide, 32 feet long, and 12 feet high. Specifications have all been checked by the Office of the Supervising Architect. On motion of Mr. Trees it was voted to approve the contract for the above shed and to authorize the President and Secretary of the Board to enter into said contract. 4. Research in Athletics and Physical Education. Mr. George Huff, Head of the Department of Physical Welfare, has submitted to m e a proposal on which he asks immediate action for the establishment of research into the effects of Physical Training and athletics on the individuals who participate therein. Mr. Huff's proposal has the approval of the Board of Directors of the Athletic Association. After conference with Mr. Huff I appointed a committee consisting of Mr. Huff, Chairman, Deans Babcock, Daniels, Chadsey, and Professor White to consider and advise m e on the matter. They have reported that they approve the proposal in principle and have made certain suggestions to m e concerning procedure. It seems to me that Mr. Huff has hit upon an excellent and new idea. I recommend the acceptance in principle of Mr. Huffs proposal to conduct research into the effects of physical exercise and athletics wholly at the expense of the Athletic Association except that the University will provide necessary laboratory space in the new Gymnasium and that appointments of individualsof the President'swork usual way. in Merle J. of the University Adjourned.to approve carry on this the be made under the matterTrees on recommendation tothe President inrecommendation this rulesNoble Voted W.
