Purchases

(16) T h e president submitted, with his concurrence, a list of purchases recommended by the directors of purchases and the vice president for business and finance. T h e purchases were presented in one category — purchases from institutional funds. T h e term designates funds received by the University under contracts with the United States government, private corporations, and other organizations; grants from foundations, corporations, and other donors; and University revolving funds authorized by law. T h e total amount of these purchases from institutional funds was $1,795,507. A complete list of the purchases, with supporting information (including the quotations received), was sent to each member of the board in advance of the meeting. A copy is being filed with the secretary of the board for record.

On motion of Mr. Boyle, the purchases recommended were authorized by the following vote: Aye, Dr. Bacon, Mr. Boyle, Mrs. Calder, Mr. Grabowski, Mrs. Gravenhorst, Mr. Lamont, Ms. Reese; no, none; absent, Governor Edgar, Mrs. Shepherd, Mr. Wolff. (The student advisory vote was: Aye, Ms. Caporusso, Mr. Mitchell; no, none.)

Comptroller's Report on Investment Transactions through September 15, 1991

(17) T h e comptroller presented the above report which includes transactions under Finance and Audit Committee guidelines and transactions under the comptroller's authority. A copy of this report is filed with the secretary of the board.

SECRETARY'S REPORT

The secretary presented for record appointments to the faculty and changes of status made by the president, resignations, terminations, and retirements. A copy of the report is filed with the secretary.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY

In view of the fact that the meeting was running quite late, President Ikenberry suggested that it would be best to cancel the meeting scheduled for 3:15 p.m. with the University of Illinois Foundation Board and the Board of Trustees. The board members concurred.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD

Mrs. Gravenhorst called attention to the schedule of meetings for the next few months: November 14, Chicago; January 16, 1992, UrbanaChampaign (Annual Meeting); February 14, Chicago. There is no meeting scheduled for December.
