T h e minor is designed to assure a background in language, German literary classics, and the history of German culture. Nineteen hours of coursework, including two courses at the 300-level, are required. No new resources will be needed to initiate the program. This report was received for record. Amendment to the Senate Constitution, Urbana (25) T h e University of Illinois Statutes require that amendments to the constitutions of the senates shall take effect upon adoption by the senate concerned and approval thereof by the Board of Trustees. T h e following amendment to the Constitution was approved by the Urbana-Champaign Senate on April 23, 1990. 1 Article III, Section 3 T h e total number of senators elected from the student electorate shall be as [nearly] close to fifty as [practicable, but shall not exceed fifty] possible. They shall be elected from student election units as provided in this Article. T h e Senate shall determine prior to each election the number of senators to be elected from each student election unit. This determination shall be based insofar as feasible on each unit's proportional share of the total student electorate, provided however, that each college or its equivalent shall be entitled to elect at least one senator from its student electorate. T h e University Senates Conference has indicated that no further senate jurisdiction is involved. T h e chancellor at Urbana and the vice president for academic affairs concur in the recommended changes. I recommend approval.
