BOARD OF TRUSTEES

HEARING REGARDING CIA RECRUITMENT ON CAMPUS President Wolff introduced the following students who had asked to address the board on the issue of recruitment for employment by t h e Central Intelligence Agency on t h e campuses of the University: Ms. Carol Sortwell and Mr. Leroy Bach, representing the Progressive Students Organization at U I C ; and Ms. Lisa Canar, representing t h e Coalition Against State Sponsored Terrorism. Each of the three students presented a brief report. Reference was made to a printed r e p o r t distributed to the members of the board which is on file with the secretary of the board. T h e speakers admonished the board to consider enacting a stronger policy regarding on-campus recruiting of students for employment and to consider barring the CIA. T h e y indicated that several universities in the country had b a r r e d t h e agency. Ms. Kelly indicated that she was in agreement with the statements m a d e by the t h r e e speakers. President Wolff asked if t h e r e were questions or comments from the board. T h e r e were none. ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD President Wolff called attention to the schedule of meetings for t h e next t h r e e months: March 14, Urbana-Champaign; April 11, Chicago; May 9, Urbana-Champaign.

T h e r e being no further business, the board adjourned.
