LEAVE OF A B S E N C E FOR PROFESSOR F A N N I E M. BROOKS (10) A recommendation that leave of absence without salary for one year beginning September 1, 1921, be granted to Assistant Professor Fannie M. Brooks of the Department of Home Economics, to enable her to obtain additional hospital experience. Dean Davenport has approved Professor Brooks's request. This recommendation was approved. LOTS R E N T E D FROM C H A M P A I G N C H A M B E R OF C O M M E R C E (11) The Comptroller reports that the Chamber of Commerce has spent the sum of $ 19,254.99 on the lots rented under a contract with authority of the Board, dated October 1,1919, and that the interest on the expenditures of the Chamber of Commerce, which interest is the amount of our rental, will be approximately $1,175 for the year. I therefore request that an appropriation of $1,175 (or so much thereof as may be necessary) be made to cover the obligation of the University during the fiscal year 1921-22 on this account. On motion of Mr. Hoit, this appropriation was made* by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Blake, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Noble; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Herbert, Mr. Small, Mr. Trimble. EDUCATIONAL C O N F E R E N C E S A N D COMMISSIONS (12) A request for authority to call, during the current year, sundry educational conferences, including general education, music, agriculture, dairy husbandry, etc., and to appoint certain commissions; with a recommendation that $5,000 be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent fund to defray the expense. On motion of Mr. Noble, this authority was granted and the appropriation was made. The vote was as follows: Aye, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Blake, Mrs. Busey, Mrs.'Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Noble; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Herbert, Mr. Small, Mr. Trimble. CONTRACT WITH P U B L I C SCHOOL PUBLISHING CO. (13) On January 1, 1920, the University made an agreement with the Public School Publishing Company of Bloomington for the publication of a Journal of Educational Research for which the University undertook to furnish editorial management under certain conditions and on certain terms. (See Minutes, June 10, 1919, page 400). I now have a letter from Mr. George A. Brown, of the Public School Publishing Company, asking to be released from this agreement.
