550 UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS. [March 19 CONTRACT FOR CERAMICS AND MINING BUILDING. Professor J a m e s M. White, supervising architect, submitted t h e fallowing recommendation in r e g a r d to t h e a w a r d of t h e contract for t h e Ceramics and Mining b u i l d i n g : Mr. W. L. Abbott, Chairmcm of the Committee on Building and Grounds: I s u b m i t h e r e w i t h a detailed s t a t e m e n t of t h e bids on t h e Mining and Ceramics laboratory. p n t h e basis of a l t e r n a t e B, which it was decided to accept, A. W. Stoolman w a s t h e low bidder. Other changes were deemed advisable, and on t h e basis of revisions m a d e in t h e plans and specifications by t h e State architect, Mr. Stoolman revised h i s bid, s u b m i t t i n g a.detailed schedule of t h e cost of the 9 changes, w h i c h . h a s been approved by Mr. Z i m m e r m a n and myself. I t was voted to recommend t h a t $300.00, or as much of t h i s sum as may be needed, be a p p r o p r i a t e d for w i d e n i n g t h e staircase leading to t h e a t t i c floor in t h e School of Commerce building. VACUUM C L E A N E R S . I t was voted to recommend t h a t $400.0Q, or as m u c h of t h i s s u m a s m a y be necessary, be appropriated to p u r c h a s e two portable v a c u u m cleaners for use in University buildings.
