1925 (HGAF-27) By 1917 there was a low privet hedge along the northern section of the path (visible in foreground). In 1922 the Primitive Men (shown here) replaced the Fu Dogs.

1940 (HGR-33) By this time the forest had grown up on either side of the path. In this view along the northern section towards the Rose Terrace, the low hedge is the primary spacedefining feature. The upright juniper was replaced with arborvitae and later with yews
