Libraries
The University of Illinois is internationally
renowned as a center for excellence in education and research. These
intellectual pursuits are supported by the largest public university
library in the country. The University's library system celebrated
its 10 millionth volume in 2004 and its total holdings now number
more than 23 million items. Headquartered in the Main and Undergraduate Libraries, more than 40
departmental libraries service the University's needs. In addition
to servicing the needs of campus, the library system also trains the
next generation of librarians and information scientists. The
Graduate School of Library and Information Science is ranked #1 in
the country.
