Dr. Odell led the Illinois Soil Survey for 22 years and served a two-year term on the Illinois Pollution Control Board. He was very active in international agriculture both before and after his retirement in 1973. He and Florence, natives of Illinois, served consulting assignments not only in Illinois, but also in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean.
