UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS SCHOLARSHIP FOR MR. S. T. GREENLEAF

(14) Mr. S. T. Greenleaf, Jr., a freshman in the College of Commerce, has applied for a scholarship under Section 9 of the Charter Act of the University. I suggest that the Board should direct the President to determine by such examination as he deems proper, Mr. Greenleaf's qualifications and i satisfied therewith to assign f him a scholarship. A motion of M r s . Evans, that the President of the University be directed to determine M r . Greenleaf's qualifications for such a scholarship, and if satisfied, to award the scholarship, w a s lost b y the following tie vote: A y e , M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r . Noble; no, M r . Abbott, M r s . Blake, M r . Hoit, M r . Trimble. After discussion, however, on motion of M r . Hoit, the matter w a s referred to the President of the University, with power to act. REVISED CURRICULUM IN GENERAL AGRICULTURE (15) The University Senate, acting on the advice of its Committee on Educational Policy and of the faculty of the College of Agriculture, recommends for your approval a revision in the curriculum in General Agriculture, to go into effect at the opening of the academic year 1923-24, provided funds necessary to care for additional members of the staff are available at that time. O n motion of M r . Hoit, this recommendation w a s approved. CONFERENCE OF PRESIDENTS OF THE COLLEGES OF ILLINOIS (16) A recommendation that the sum of $350 be transferred from the unused balance of the Graduate School fellowship appropriation and appropriated to meet the expenses of a conference of the Presidents of the colleges of Illinois to be held at the University. O n motion of M r s . Evans, this appropriation w a s m a d e , b y the following vote: A y e , M r . Abbott, M r s . Blake, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r . Hoit, M r . Noble, M r . Trimble; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r . Herbert, M r . Small.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE LOTS

(17) The following letter: October 18, 1922 President David Kinley, University of Illinois M y Dear President Kinley: I beg to report that, in accordance with the contract authorized October 4, 1919, by the Board of Trustees, I have concluded the purchase, from the Chamber of Commerce of Champaign, of Lots 3, 4, 5, 6, and Lots 8, 9, 10 in Orchard Place Addition to Champaign, located at the Northeast and Northwest corners of Fifth Street and Armory Avenue. The total purchase price as shown in the attached statement i $19,460.16, which i in accordance with the terms of the contract s s above mentioned. On this purchase price a sum of #9,460.16 has been paid, appropriation for which was made at the last meeting of the Board. The balance of #10,000 i s represented by a mortgage outstanding against the property at the date of purchase for $10,000, as described in the attached statement.
