A P P R O P R I A T I O N F O R C O N C R E T E P A V E M E N T S IN T H E ARTILLERY S T A B L E S (10) On request of Major T. J. Camp, Acting Commandant, approved by Professor White, I recommend that an appropriation of $4000 from the Reserve and Contingent Fund be made to build concrete passageways in the a t l e y stables. rilr O n motion of Mrs. Evans, this appropriation was made. T h e vote was as follows: Aye, M r . Abbott, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, M r . Herbert, M r . Hoit, M r . Noble, M r . Trimble; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, Mrs. Blake, M r . Small. HONORARIUM FOR WARREN K. MOOREHEAD (11) Dr. Warren K. Moorehead, o the Museum o P i l p Academy, Andover, f f hlis Massachusetts, has given about four months of his time to the University in directing the explorations of the Cahokia Mounds. As a result, the University has received some very valuable additions to its Museum collections. Dr. Moorehead undertook the work because of his scientific interest in it. I recommend that he be paid an honorarium offivehundred dollars for his services, from the Reserve and Contingent Fund. O n motion of M r . Noble, this recommendation was approved, by the following vote: Aye, M r . Abbott, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r . Herbert, M r . Hoit, M r . Noble, M r . Trimble; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r s . Blake, M r . Small. APPROPRIATION FOR HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT (12) On request of the committee in charge, I recommend that an appropriation of #3500, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be made for the purchase of equipment needed for the student hospital, and recommended by the hospital committee, the amount to be taken from the surplus fund on hand from hospital operations of the University year just closed, and that the balance of the surplus be converted into general University funds. O n motion of M r s . Evans, these recommendations were approved, by the following vote: Aye, M r . Abbott, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r . Herbert, M r . Hoit, M r . Noble, M r . Trimble; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r s . Blake, M r . Small. EDITORSHIP "CHICAGO ALUMNI RECORD" (13) A recommendation that Mr. Carl Stephens be paid one thousand dollars for his services as editor of the Chicago Alumni Record, and that an appropriation of that amount be made for that purpose from the Reserve and Contingent Fund. O n motion of M r s . Busey, this recommendation was approved, by the following vote: Aye, M r . Abbott, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r . Herbert, M r . Hoit, M r . Noble, M r . COLLEGE PLACE LOTS

(14) The Comptroller reports that in accordance with the action of the Board he has carried out your instructions concerning the purchase of lots owned by Miss Sherfy in College Place. The owners were willing to allow us to anticipate an extra payment which we have the opportunity of making every two months, and in order to solidify our control, I agreed that this should be done and ask for an appropriation of $14,500 from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to cover this extra payment.
