EXTRA VACATIONS FOR MESSRS. LLOYD, RHODE, A N D PETERSON (5) A recommendation from Dean Mumford that e t a vacation allowance be xr given to Professor J. W . Lloyd (one month), Professor C. S. Rhode (one and onehalf months), and Mr. I. L. Peterson (two months), to enable them to travel and study conditions in their respective fields. O n motion of M r . Armstrong, this recommendation w a s approved. TRAVELING EXPENSES OF PROFESSOR R H O D E (6) A r q e t from Dean Mumford f r a t o i y to approve a voucher f r the eus o uhrt o traveling expenses of Assistant Professor C. S. Rhode, who goes to England with a team which will compete in the international stock-judging contest. N o action w a s taken o n this matter.

GIFT FROM MRS. J. A. OCKERSON

(7) A recommendation that a gift from Mrs. J. A. Ockerson, widow of the late Colonel J. A. Ockerson, of the books in his office library, containing a collection of important engineering books and journals, be accepted. O n motion of M r s . Evans, M r s . Ockerson's offer w a s accepted, and the President of the University w a s instructed to express to her the thanks and appreciation of the Board of Trustees.

THE HARRY ROBERTS TEMPLE LOAN FUND

(8) A recommendation that a gift of jSiooo from Mrs. Frieda Block Temple for a loan fund to be known as the Harry Roberts Temple Loan Fund, be accepted. It is her wish that the fund be used preferably for students in Architecture, and preferably upper classmen. O n motion of M r s . Blake this fund w a s accepted and the President of the University w a s directed to express to M r s . T e m p l e the thanks and appreciation of the Board of Trustees. TRUCK GARDEN EXPERIMENT FIELD (9) A recommendation that the Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station be authorized to enter into an arrangement with the Forest Preserve District of Cook County for the use of 12 acres of land for experimental work in truck farming until December 31, 1924. O n motion of M r s . Evans, the Director of the Experiment Station w a s authorized to m a k e such an arrangement. NEW APPOINTMENTS (10) A recommendation that the following new appointments be approved, effective September 1, 1924. Eliot Jones, McKinley Professor of the Economics of Public Utilities, for one year, at a salary of six thousand dollars ($6000). F. E. Wolfe, Associate Professor of Economics, for three years, at a salary of forty-five hundred dollars (#4500) a year. Paul Converse, Associate Professor of Business Organization and Operation. for two years, at a salary of four thousand dollars (£4000) a year. C. H. Fernald, Assistant Professor of Business Organization and Operation, for one year, at a salary of three thousand two hundredfiftydollars ($3250). A. O. Craven, Assistant Professor of History, for one year, at a salary of three thousand dollars (£3000). R. O. Moen, Instructor in Business Organization and Operation, for ten months, at a salary of twenty-two hundred dollars (#2200). O n motion of M r s . Busey, these appointments were approved.
