Mrs. Evans moved to award the contract to the lowest bidder, the Standard X-Ray Company. On request of Mr. Trees, action was postponed, and the meeting adjourned to Thursday, M a y 29, 1924, at 10 o'clock, in the offices of Schmidt, Garden, & Martin, Architects. W . L. Trees MEETING OF MAY 29, 1924 A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held on Thursday, M a y 29, 1924, in the offices of Richard E. Schmidt & Hugh M . G. Garden, Architects, 104 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Present: Win. L. Noble, Chairman, Laura B. Evans, Merle J. Trees. There were also present: Dr. Blain, J. Dutcher, and Richard E. Schmidt. On further consideration of proposals submitted for X-Ray Equipment for the R E S E A R C H A N D E D U C A T I O N A L H O S P I T A L in the City of Chicago, Mr. Trees moved and Mrs. Evans seconded the motion that the contract be awarded to S T A N D A R D X - R A Y C O M P A N Y , for the sum of £18,522.48, including two air-cooled Coolidge tubes, and, i at any future day the University of Illinois desires f to order a water-cooled system, the contractor shall deliver, set, and connect two water-cooled tubes and a completely connected Victor, or equal, water-cooling system as described in the specifications prepared by Richard E. Schmidt, Garden, & Martin, at a price not to exceed that quoted by any other manufacturer at that time, and, on the further condition that if, within six months from the date of delivery of the air-cooled tubes by the contractor, the University desires to return said air-cooled tubes, the contractor shall credit the owner's account with the sum of #260 on delivery of said tubes. The motion hereinabove was voted on and unanimously adopted. W . L. Noble, Chairman Laura B. Evans Merle J. Trees MEETING OF JUNE 6, 1924 At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board held Friday afternoon June 6, on recommendation of the President of the University, it was voted to change the payment to each member of the Band who stayed over for the Commencement exercises for expenses attendant thereon from $6 to $10, and the President and Comptroller were authorized to pay the increased stipends from the appropriations already made. PORTRAIT OF JUDGE HARKER

(1) The Law Club presents to the University a portrait of Judge Oliver A. Harker. A representative of the Club is waiting to present the portrait formally. I recommend that it be accepted. T h e representative of the L a w C l u b appeared a n d presented the portrait to the Board, and President Noble accepted the portrait with thanks.
