AMENDMENT TO LAYNE-BOWLER CONTRACT FOR WELL

(7) A recommendation of the Supervising Architect that the contract with the Layne-Bowler Chicago Company be amended as follows:

AMENDMENT

Amendment to Contract by and between Layne-Bowler Chicago Company and the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois, which was made and entered into on the 14th day of June, 1923. First—that this Contract be so amended that in place of "a well" or "one well," that same shall read, "two wells," and in place of "the well" that same shall read, "these wells," and in place of "a pump" or "one pump and motor," shall read "two pumps and motor," and further that the guarantee of Five Hundred (500) gallons per minute shall apply to the combined capacity of the two (2) wells. The Contractor hereby accepts the location for test hole for this second well selected by the Engineers of the University at the East end of the same block of land, being a little less than three hundred (300) feet from thefirstwell finished under this Agreement. Second—that Clause 4, wherein is specified the 24" casing shall be concreted outside its full height, be waived, and the Contractor shall not be required to cement around the 24" casing. Third—it is further agreed by both parties that there shall be no deduction made on account of the water produced, for the One Thousand and no/100 Dollars ($1,000.00) specified under "Clause B—Purchaser Agrees." WALCOTT-MITCHELL PROPERTY (9) Concerning the purchase of and payment for the property (Lot 20 of Forestry Heights Addition to the City of Urbana) for which your Board made an appropriation of #13,605, July 11, 1923 (See Minutes, page 234), I recommend as follows: 1. That the following contract of purchase be approved and entered into by the Board. THIS A G R E E M E N T , Made and entered into this 7th day of January, in the year 1924, by and between W . W . Mitchell, of the County of Montgomery and State of Illinois,firstparty, and the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, second party: W I T N E S S E T H , That the saidfirstparty hereby sells to the second party the following described real estate, to wit: Lot 20 of Forestry Heights Addition to the City of Urbana, situated in the County of Champaign and State of Illinois, for the sum of Thirteen Thousand Six Hundred and Five Dollars (313,605.00).
