factor in the life of the University students. Besides these M r . McKinley has in m a n y other ways m a d e contributions which have added to the University's welfare indirectly. His generosity and his farsightedness in these matters have meant m u c h to the University. W e take great pleasure in calling the attention of the alumni, faculty, and students to M r . McKinley's gifts, and again express our o w n w a r m appreciation and thanks for them. A n d B E I T F U R T H E R R E S O L V E D that the President of the University be directed to send a copy of this Resolution to M r . McKinley.

ADDITIONAL GIFT FOR THE McKINLEY STUDENT HOSPITAL (2) A report of the receipt of assurance from Senator William B. McKinley that he will add to his previous gift of $150,000 for a student Hospital the sum of $55,000 additional, making a total of $205,000, provided the whole sum of #205,000 be used by the University in construction of the Hospital and none of it used for architect's fees, drawings, and specifications. I recommend that this additional generous offer of M r . McKinley's be accepted under the conditions named, and that the University pay out of its general fund the expenses connected with preparation of plans, specifications, and architectural supervision of the McKinley Student Hospital. O n m o t i o n of M r . Blair, these r e c o m m e n d a t i o n s w e r e adopted. ENDOWMENT OF PLYM TRAVELING FELLOWSHIPS AND PRIZES IN ARCHITECTURE A N D ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING (3) A report of the donation by Mr. Francis J. Plym, of the Class of resident of Niles, Michigan, of three hundred thirty-five shares of certain stock, for which two certificates of irrevocable stock power have been received, the income of which is to be disbursed in creating certain traveling fellowships and certain prizes in accordance with the terms of the Deed of Gift which follows: Niles, Michigan December 20, 1923 Board of Trustees, University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois Gentlemen : As further evidence of m y loyalty and interest in the University of Illinois, I expect to tender three hundred and thirty-five shares of Southern Pacific Railway common stock to perpetuate the Francis J. Plym Fellowships and prizes. T h e irrevocable stock power for two hundred shares is herewith enclosed and this amount of stock is at present tendered. A n additional tender for one hundred and thirtyfive shares together with irrevocable stock power I hope to make shortly after the close of this year. I desire that the equity hereby tendered shall be held in trust by the Board of Trustees, the earnings therefrom to be disbursed in the interest of the Architectural Department of the University as follows: (1) In creating an annual European Architectural Traveling Scholarship. (2) In creating an annual European Architectural Engineering Traveling Scholarship. (3) In creating annual prizes in the Department of Architecture, same to be available for both the Architectural Engineers and Architects. The earnings from this fund yield at the present time $2,010.00 a year. O n this basis I desire that $1,200.00 be allotted to the Architectural Scholarship for one year abroad and $700.00 be allotted to the Architectural Engineers' Scholarship for six months abroad. T h e balance is to be used for local prize competitions in the Department of Architecture.
