MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT KINLEY The Board considered the following matters presented by the President of the University. REPORT OF FEES (1) The Comptroller's report of fees collected at the beginning of the second semester. February 9, 1923 President David Kinley, University of Illinois M y Dear President Kinley: The amounts of fees collected from students on registration days of the second semester, 1922-1923 were as follows: Urbana Departments $180,843.50 Chicago Departments 27,868.72 Total $208,712.22 These amounts have been deposited in full with the University Treasurer. It is interesting to note in the case of the registration at Urbana that the total amount of fees assessed, as given above, covering nearly 7,000 accounts and approximately 15,000 items, was collected, balanced to the cent, and deposited in full by 6 o'clock on the evening of the second day of registration. I cannot refrain from commending Mr. H. B. Ingalls, Bursar, for his thoro and systematic handling of this work, the greater part of which must, of necessity, be done by student clerks, assembled for that particular purpose, working under the supervision of a comparatively small number of regular employees. A. Wells be continued to Mrs. Wells until the close of the appointment year, August, 1923. O n motion of M r s . Evans, this recommendation w a s concurred in, REQUEST OF SENATE LIBRARY COMMISSION FOR AN APPROPRIATION F O R BINDING A N D B O O K S (3) A recommendation that an appropriation of $8500 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for binding newspapers, periodicals, and books, and for the purchase of books, sets, etc., as requested by the Senate Library Committee.
