M E E T I N G O F MAKCH 11, 1902.

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois met in the Trustees' room, Library building, Urbana Illinois, at 9 o'clock a. m., Tuesday, March 11, 1902. The members present <vere Messrs. Bullard, Hatch, McKay, McLean, Nightingale, and Smith, and Mrs. Carriel, Mrs. Abbott, and Mrs. Alexander; absent, Grovernor Yates and Messrs. Bayliss and Conrad, President Draper was present. The minutes of the meeting of December 10, 1901, were approved as presented by the Secretary. The election of officers being then in order, Mr. T. J. Smith announced that he was not a candidate for re-election. Mr. A. F. Nightingale was elected President. Mr. W. L. Pilisbury was elected Corresponding and Recording Secretary and Registrar. Messrs. Hatch and Smith were elected to constitute, with the President of the Board, the Executive Committee.

lo the Board of Irustees, I recommend that the request of Professor Frederick, who has been twelve years in the University's service, for leave of absence for next year under the rule allowing such leave for foreign study on half pay, be granted, and that I be authorized to arrange with Professor Wells to take charge of the department during his absence.

President. Professor Frederick was given leave of absence for the year beginning September 1, 1902, as recommended.

UNIFORMS FOR UNIVERSITY CADETS.

lo the Board of Irustees. I present a communication from Major E. G Fechet, U. S. A., Professor L of Military Science and Tactics, recommending that early action be taken looking to the placing of the contract for furnishing uniforms for the University regiment next year, in order to avoid the delays of previous years. I recommend that the Business Manager acting in conjunction with Major - 1 5 U.
