ings and Grounds was instructed to point out the location and to see that the pipe was laid therein and the campus put in good condition after the pipe was laid, all at no expense to the University. 4. The petition of the same company that the University sign a petition to the Urbana City Council for a renewal of the franchise of the said company for twenty years was acted upon favorably and President Smith was authorized to sign such petition. 5. Sundry repairs recommended by the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds in the several buildings were acted upon and the following ordered: A new red plain tile roof on the Armory building to take the place of the wood shingle roof; new floors in part of the corridors and rooms of University Hall; the damp walls of the basement of the Library Building to be furred and replastered so that the walls would not show dampness on the inside. The ordinary work of repairing annually made necessary was also ordered. 6. At the meeting of the Committee held July 22d last the Committee received the following instruction from the Executive Committee:

URBANA, July 22,1901.

The Executive Committee of the University hereby instructs and authorizes the Committee on Buildings and Grounds to have the heating and ventilation system in use in the Library Building put into good condition, and hereby appropriates $600.00 therefor.

Executive Committee, The Committee thereupon instructed the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds to attend to the matter and carry out the recommendations of Architects Ricker and White and Mr. Spencer, the cost not to exceed the appropriation. Respectfully submitted,
