MEETING OF S E P T . 21, 1900.

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois met at the Sherman House, Chicago, 111., at 1:30 o'clock p. in., Friday, Sept. 21, 1900. The members present were Messrs. Bayliss, Bullard, Hatch, MoKay, McLean and Smith, and Mrs, Flower, Mrs. Carriel and Mrs. Abbott; those absent were Grovernor Tanner and Messrs. Fulkerson and Nightingale. President Draper was present. The secretary presented the minutes of the meeting of June 12, 1900. The minutes were approved as presented, but the secretary was instructed to change the third line from the end of paragraph number two in the rule regarding "Leave of Absence" (see page 382) by striking out the word "same" before the word "salary" and inserting after the word "salary" the words, "of his grade."

PURCHASE OF W E S T DIVISION H I G H SCHOOL PROPERTY LEGE OF MEDICINE. FOR COL-

Dr. Quine and Dr. Steele of the College of Medicine were then heard with regard to a proposed purchase of the West Division High School property in Chicago for the use of the College of Medicine. The subject was referred to a special committee, consisting of Mrs. Flower and Messrs. Bullard and Smith, together with the president of the board, Mr. McLean, and the committee was instructed to report at the December meeting of the board, or earlier, if in its judgment further consideration of the matter by the board should not be so long deferred.
