T h e y h a v e c a u s e d t h i s b u i l d i n g to be t a k e n d o w n , a s you directed, c a r e being t a k e n to p r e s e r v e t h e m a t e r i a l , as far as possible, in c o n d i t i o n for o t h e r u s e s . Your c o m m i t t e e f a r t h e r r e p o r t t h a t t h e y h a v e c a u s e d a Boiler H o u s e and c h i m n e y to be built a c c o r d i n g to t h e d e s i g n s a n d p l a n s p r e s e n t e d by Prof. Bicker, a n d a p p r o v e d b y t h e Board. T h e B o i l e r H o u s e is 34 by 80 feet, a n d 14 feet high at t h e walls. T h e w a l l s a r e of s t o n e for t h e first six feet, a n d b r i c k for t h e r e m a i n i n g h e i g h t . T h e roof is of wood, c o v e r e d with iron shingles. T h e c h i m n e y is 97 feet h i g h from t h e s u r f a c e of t h e g r o u n d , a n d 107 feet above t h e foundation. T h e first 20 feet is of stone, the r e m a i n d e r of brick. T h e d i a m e t e r is 8 feet at t h e g r o u n d , 6 feet at t h e t o p . S m o k e is c a r r i e d to t h e c h i m n e y t h r o u g h brick a r c h e d d u c t s , u n d e r g r o u n d , a n d s t e a m to t h e Main B u i l d i n g t h r o u g h a s i m i l a r a r c h e d duct. A n e w 75 h o r s e - p o w e r w a t e r - t u b e boiler, m a d e b y A b e n d r o t h a n d Boot, of New York, h a s b e e n p u r c h a s e d to t a k e t h e place of the old boiler which h a d b e e n c o n d e m n e d . T h e n e w boiler, with a n o t h e r of t h e s a m e c a p a c i t y b o u g h t two y e a r s ago. is set in t h e Boiler H o u s e , a n d t h e s t e a m therefrom is c a r r i e d by a six inch pipe to t h e Main Building. T h e a c t i o n of t h e boilers, d u c t s , c h i m n e y s , a n d t h e a p p u r t e n a n c e s , h a s t h u s far satisfied e v e r y anticipation.
