EXAMINING SCHOOLS. The Trustees have authorized the Faculty to designate one or more High Schools in each county of the State, of sufficiently high grade and good reputation, whose certificates of examination, in the branches required of candidates for the University, may be received in lieu of the usual examination of the University. These must be Graded, or High Schools of good reputation, and of sufficiently extended course to prepare students for the University. The principal teachers of the schools selected will be authorized to prepare questions and conduct examinations of any of their students desirous of entering the University, but the papers must be sent to the Universisy for final decision.

PREPARATORY WORK.

To meet an urgent demand, the Trustees consented to provide for teaching the preparatory studies lying between the work of the common school and that of the University. Candidates for these classes should not be less than fifteen years old. They must pass satisfactory examinations in Arithmetic, Geography, English Grammar, and History of the United States.
