60 quested to remain and take part in the transactions of the Board, their expenses in attending this meeting to be paid by warrants drawn by the Regent. It was voted that the reading of the minutes of last meeting be dispensed with, as printed copies of the Annual Report were in the hands of the members of the Board. On motion, the Secretary was ordered to notify, by telegraph, the newly elected members of the session of the Board, and invite their attendance. The Eegent then read the—

ANNUAL REPORT OF THE REGENT.

To the Board of Trustees of the Illinois Industrial University:

GENTLEMEN—The recurrence of your annual meeting calls upon me to lay before you the annual statement of the progress, condition and wants of the University. I am happy in being able to report to you a year of large progress and prosperity in every department of our work. The records of the meetings of the Executive Committee, which are herewith communicated, will show you their proceedings during the year—which will, doubtless, meet your approval.
