Ceramic Engineering Kiln House and Mining Engineering Laboratory

The Ceramic Engineering Kiln House and the Mining Engineering Laboratory were two separate facilities housed in the same building, completed in 1913, designed by W. Zimmerman, and costing $25,000 to build. [1] The kiln house was connected to the Ceramic Engineering Building and added 11,200 square feet of "kilns, furnaces, and heavy machines for working clays". The mining laboratory measured 3,600 square feet and housed a chemistry laboratory and a "Mine Rescue Station equipped and arranged for training men in the methods of mine rescue work". [2]
